Government mops up Rs. 203221 crore revenue from Coal India Limited since FY 2013-14: Shri Pralhad Joshi

The Government has collected Rs. 203221.12 crore in revenue from Coal India Limited (CIL) in the last six years beginning from financial year 2013-14 up to the last fiscal 2018-19, Union Coal Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi informed the Parliament .

Of the total revenue received, the maximum of Rs. 44826.43 crore was mopped up in 2018-19. In 2017-18, the revenue stood at Rs. 44046.57 crore while in the preceding fiscal, it was Rs. 44068.28 crore.

In 2015-16, the government fetched 29084.11 crore whereas the figure remained at Rs. 21482.21 in financial year 2014-15. In FY 2013-14, it remained at Rs. 19713.52 crore.

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, the Minister also informed that the consolidated State-wise coal production from the functional coal mines during last six years (2013-14 to 2018-19) remained at 3876.16 million tonnes (MT). In FY 2018-19, it remained highest at 728.718 MT.

Notably, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are the coal producing states in India. in the last financial year, the coal production share of Chhattisgarh stood at highest followed by Odisha and Jharkhand.
