Government has approved development of 11 Industrial Corridors with 32 Projects to be developed in four phases in the country as part of National Industrial Corridor Programme (NICP) which are under various stages of conceptualization/development /implementation. The status of Projects is as follows:-

Govt. of Tamil Nadu in January, 2021 submitted a proposal for funding assistance to Chennai Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC) under NICP. They have been requested to submit a detailed proposal (Comprehensive Development Plan/Feasibility Report) for inclusion of CKIC under Industrial Corridor framework along with detailed information of availability of land. Therefore, no amount is allocated for this corridor as yet. The Objective of development of industrial corridors is to expand the industrial output, increasing employment opportunities, provide better living and social facilities for the new and growing workforce by way of providing plug n play infrastructure at the plot level for industries.
This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Shri Som Parkash, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
