NMDC in association with Chhattisgarh Govt. runs an education initiative named “Choo Lo Asman” for supporting students of Bastar region of Chhattisgarh for preparing them technically and academically competent to pursue higher studies in different disciplines like Engineering and Medical courses.
To encourage and support the successful candidates from Bastar region of Chhattisgarh in the premier entrance examinations like IIT-JEE and AIIMS, NMDC has started a scheme for sponsoring their studies in IIT & AIIMS with an amount of Rs.5.00 lakhs for each student. The sponsored amount of Rs.5.00 lakhs will be provided to these talented students during the entire course in equal annual installments. For the present year, NMDC is going to sponsor four students of Bastar region of Chhattisgarh who have cleared JEE, Advance Entrance recently in 2019. These students are:
- Shri Santhuram Kunjam
- Kiran Baghel,
- Shri Harish Baghel,
- Shri Ved Prakash Som
NMDC has always been in the forefront to improve educational facilities in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh under various educational schemes such as establishment of education city, Siksha Sahyog Yojana, Balika Siksha Yojana, Mid-Day meal scheme, Choo Lo Asman etc.
It is pertinent to mention here that a hub of educational facilities has been established in the EDUCATION CITY, Dantewada District in partnership with the CG State Government with institutions ranging from primary level educational facility to professional institutions having a strength of 5000 students. Among others it includes Astha Gurukual, a residential school and Saksham, a 100% specially-abled friendly residential school etc.
NMDC`s focus areas under CSR activities are Education, Health & Sanitation, Infrastructure, Integrated Village development, Skill development for gainful employment, etc.
