Start up Conclave will be held from 11th to 15th November

A Startup Conclave will be organized during the forthcoming 2nd edition of Make in Odisha
to be held between 11th-15th of November, 2018. This was decided in the 3rd meeting of the Startup
Council held today under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri A.P. Padhi. The Startup
Conclave will include a heckathon, boot camp and exhibition of products and services of Startups of
Odisha.
Shri L.N. Gupta, ACS, MSME informed the Council that till date 233 startups have been
recognised in the state, which comes to @20 startups per month. 37 benefits have been given to 30
startups, 11 of which (i.e. more than 1/3rd) are women-led startups. He added that these 30 assisted
startups are providing employment to 476 persons. There are 7 incubators working for incubation of
the startups with a total incubation area of over 4 lakh sq.ft. to assist the startups. Already a network
of 108 mentors have been put in place.
The Startup Council approved the one time capital grant of Rs.1 crore in favour of KIIT TBI
and of Rs. 50 lakh in favour of Foundation for Technology Business Incubator of NIT, Rourkela.
The Startup Council also sanctioned need based assistance of Rs.5 lakhs to the startup namely,
Orduino Labs Pvt Ltd and Rs.12 lakh to Coastkings Pvt. Ltd. The Startup Council also approved
nomination of 3 new Nodal Agencies namely, Sri Sri University for the areas of ‘agriculture, food
processing, social entrepreneurship’, Institute of Hotel management Catering Technology & Applied
Nutrition, Bhubaneswar for ‘hospitality and tourism’ and National Institute of Science and
Technology, Berhampur for Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM), Embedded
System & Internet of Things (IOT), Renewable Energy. The Council also took note of expenditure
