NTPC signed an MoU with Common Service Centres (CSC) e-Governance Services India to support Stree Swabhiman Initiative in Odisha for setting up 50 Mini Manufacturing Sanitray Pad units in 18 districts of Odisha under CSR initiative. NTPC will be providing financial assistance to the tune of Rs 147 lakhs for setting up 50 Mini Manufacturing Sanitary Pad units under its CSR initiative .
The MOU was signed in the presence of Mr.Milan Kumar, Regional Head of HR, Mr. Abhay Kumar Rout, Deputy GM,HR NTPC and Smt. Sworpnaprabha Singh, State Head,CSC SPV. Each Sanitary MMU facility having the capacity to produce 1200-2000 pads each day and will have a sterilization room to ensure that the napkins are sterilized before they are packed for consumption of rural women. The CSCs are also being provided with raw material, enough to make 45,000-50,000 pads. These napkins will be priced at Rs. 40/- per pack; each pack containing 8 pads.
Each unit will be run by around 6-10 women, hence generate employment for these women. CSC will support each center for six months. Further continuous awareness program will also be organized by CSC for promoting the usage of sanitary pads. The center is expected to become self-sustainable after six months when the girls and women will start purchasing sanitary napkins from the established unit.
