Over 10 lakh people engaged in food processing units of value addition of cereals in 2016-17 

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Shri Rameswar Teli responding to a written question on quantity of cereals produced in the country and persons employed in its value addition in Rajya Sabha today informed that 10,56,890persons were engaged in registered food processing units of value addition of cereals in 2016-17, as per the latest available data under the Annual Survey of Industries, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

The Minister, while responding to a question on the quantity of cereals produced in the country over the past five years, informed the house that the production, as per the estimates released by Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare, was as under:
